Chad and Brian discuss self-differentiated leadership championed by Edwin Friedman in his book A Failure of Nerve.
The five aspects that Friedman says self-differentiated leaders are:
- A capacity to get outside the emotional climate of the day.
- A willingness to be exposed and vulnerable.
- Persistence in the face of resistance and downright rejection.
- Stamina in the face of sabotage along the way.
- Being “headstrong” and “ruthless”—at least in the eyes of others.
